Arifwala is a small town in District Pakpattan (famous for Baba Fareed Gang Shakar).It lies about 210 km south east of Lahore, 33 km to south of Sutlej River and 45 km east of sahiwal. This area is called Neely Bar also. It is situated between Sutluj and Biayas.It is Tehsil Head quarter consisting 30 Union Councils. About 75% population live in villages and only 25% live in municipal urban area. Main occupation is agriculture.
HISTORY
In nineteenth century Arifwala was only a village named as chak No. 61/EB. Later, it was called Arifwala because of a landlord named "Arif" having Agriculture land in this village. In 1908, the Deputy Governor "Hurbert" founded new city of Arifwala. In 1887, Arifwala was raised to the status of village town/sub-division.It was made Tehsil in 1991 from detaching Pakpattan,before it was part of Pakpattan Tehsil and in 1995 it was again attached to Pakpattan district as a new and only tehsil.
CLIMATE
The climate of the city is hot and dry. The summer season starts from April and continues till October. May, June , July and August are the hottest months. The mean maximum and minimum temperature of these months are about 45 and 32 degree centigrade respectively .
